Mrs. Annette Alexander

Mrs. Annette Alexander has degrees in both Marketing and Education. She taught third grade at St. Lawrence from 1994 – 1997 before moving out of Tampa. After staying home with her three children, she returned to the work force by opening a children’s clothing boutique (Smarty Pants) here in Tampa. In February of 2009, Mrs. Alexander sold her business and is thrilled to be back at St. Lawrence as an Early Childhood teacher.

Mrs. Debbie Anderson

Mrs. Debra Anderson was born and raised in Iowa. She is a graduate from the University of Florida and the University of South Florida with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. She has worked at St. Lawrence for 19 years. During this time she has taught 3-year olds, Kindergarten, and 4-year olds. She is married, has two sons and two chocolate Labradors.

Mrs. Catherine Belluccia

|
Mrs. Catherine Belluccia is the Accelerated Learning Program teacher for grades K – 5th. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cincinnati, and earned a Masters of Art degree in Reading Education at the University of South Florida. She has 13 combined years of teaching experience at both Catholic and public schools. She has taught in the areas of Kindergarten, 3rd grade, as Reading Specialist, and as ALP Coordinator.

Mrs. Brenda Benedict

Mrs. Brenda Benedict was born in Nebraska. However, she grew up and attended school in the South Tampa area. Mrs. Benedict is an alumni of both Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida where she earned her AA and BS degree in Education. She has taught grade levels 1 – 4 in her 14 years of teaching and is currently teaching Second grade at St. Lawrence. Mrs. Benedict and her husband, Marcus, were married at St. Lawrence in 1991 and have been parishioners since 1990. Brenda and Marcus have been blessed by God with their son, Cody.

Mrs. Susan Bruns

Mrs. Susan Bruns was born and raised in Michigan. She moved to Tampa with her family while she was in high school. She graduated from Hillsborough Community College with an AS degree in Human Services Technology. She worked as a social worker and psychiatric counselor at St Joseph’s Hospital. She is also a certified Emergency Room Counselor. Mrs. Bruns is beginning her 12th year here at St Lawrence. She is currently working with Mrs. Benedict in 2nd grade. She and her husband John were married at St Lawrence in 1980, and have been parishioners since1979. They have two children (both graduates of St Lawrence) Jason and Katelyn, and one grandchild Kaleb.

Mrs. Cindy Cadle

Mrs. Cindy Cadle was born in Boston, Massachusetts but has been living in Tampa since 1955. She attended grade school at Christ the King, high school at Tampa Catholic and college at the University of Tampa. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and has been teaching first grade for seven years. She has been an employee for St Lawrence for twenty-six years. Mrs. Cadle has been married to her husband Dennis for forty-three years. Together they have three wonderful children, Kimberly, Dennis Jr., and Dawn. They also have seven grandchildren, Justin, Ashlyn, A.J., Tyler, Lauren, Dylan, and Ryan.

Ms. Dawn Cadle

Ms. Dawn Cadle is a Tampa native and a graduate of St. Lawrence, Class of ’92. After leaving St. Lawrence she attended and graduated from Gaither High School. She worked in the St. Lawrence After School Care Program for fourteen years before becoming a teacher. Ms. Cadle received a B.A. in American Studies and an M.Ed. in Social Science Education from the University of South Florida. She is currently working on a M.Ed. in Educational Technology. Ms. Cadle has a Miniature Schnauzer named Franklin Templeton and is a huge New York Yankees fan.

Mrs. Maureen Cruikshank

Mrs. Maureen Cruikshank is a New York native who moved to Tampa with her family sixteen years ago. Mrs. Cruikshank attended Catholic schools through high school. She is a graduate of Hofstra University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Politcal Science. She worked for Metropolitan Insurance Company as an insurance – line administrator until her first child was born. After moving to Tampa, Mrs. Cruikshank earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. Mrs. Cruikshank then continued her education and eared an Education Specialist Degree In Catholic Educational Leadership from Barry University in Miami. Mrs. Maureen Cruikshank has been teaching at St. Lawrence for the past 12 years.

Mrs. Emily Darst

Mrs. Emily McNiff Darst is a graduate of Wake Forest University, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology. After taking time out to begin a family, she earned her teaching certificate in Middle School Mathematics. She has taught at St. Lawrence in many different capacities, including Second grade. She is currently teaching Seventh and Eighth Grade mathematics and managing an Eighth Grade homeroom. She and her husband, Ken, are the proud parents of six children.

Mrs. Gina Gibbons

|
Mrs. Gina Gibbons is a native of Tampa. She attended Christ the King Parochial School and graduated from Tampa Catholic High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Florida. In addition, she is certified to teach Middle School Math. She attended Florida State University and the University of South Florida for graduate course work. Mrs. Gibbons is also a licensed Realtor. Mrs. Gibbons has enjoyed teaching and interacting with students at St. Lawrence School for 27 years. During these years, she has been a sixth, seventh, and eighth grade teacher and a cheerleading coach. She has shared her time and talents by serving on many committees. She is a multiple recipient of Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Mrs. Gibbons has one son, Michael, living and working in New York City, and a dog, Rusty. She enjoys music, shopping, and entertaining her friends and family. She loves watching sports! Her favorite teams are the Gators, Bucs, Rays, Yankees and of course the St. Lawrence Celtics.

Mrs. Marjorie Gibbons

Señora Marjorie Gibbons was born in the City of Guayaquil Ecuador, South America. She has lived in Puerto Rico, and Spain. She has traveled to several Latin American Countries, such as Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Argentina. Each country has offered her a cultural and humbling experiences witch she shares with her students. Señora holds a Bachelors Degree in Spanish and Education and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Señora is certified in the States of Florida, New York and New Jersey. 2009, marks her sixteenth year teaching students of all ages. During her spare time she enjoys gardening, cooking, doing home improvement projects, and, dancing. Señora Gibbons loves spending time with her son, husband, and black lab.

Ms. Maggie Goneau

Ms. Maggie Goneau was born in Indiana but moved to Florida in 1999. She then attended Tampa Catholic High School. Ms. Goneau has been working at St. Lawrence since 2003, first in after-care, then in first grade, and now in fourth grade. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Business from the University of South Florida. Ms. Goneau then continued at USF to get her Master’s in Teaching for Elementary Education. She currently is working on a Masters in Education for Instructional Technology, also at USF. She loves the South Florida Bulls, the Red Sox, and her miniature schnauzer, Cooper.

Mrs. Nancy Maggiacomo Granda comes to St. Lawrence from Robinson High School where she was department chair since 1994. Mrs. Granda was educated by the Dominican Sisters and Marist Brothers. She earned a BA in History from Marist College and a MA in Guidance and Counseling from USF. She is married to Rudy Granda and has two step sons, Chris and Joey. Mrs. Granda is a member of Christ the King Parish. She began her teaching career at Tampa Catholic High School and is pleased to be returning to the Catholic School system as the counselor at St. Lawrence.

Mrs. Christina Hernandez

|
Mrs. Christina Hernandez was born and raised in Tampa. She is a member and Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Parish. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Jefferson High School. Mrs. Hernandez received her BA in Elementary Education and MA in Instructional Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. She is also certified in Gifted Education and ESOL. Mrs. Hernandez has been an Elementary teacher and Early Childhood Director in the Diocese of St. Petersburg for 15 years. She is married to Manolo Hernandez and has two dogs and a cat. As well in teaching during the day she also teaches at night in a program called CARIBE where she teaches Cuban and Haitian refugee English.

Mrs. Nancy Holt

Mrs. Nancy Holt graduated with a BA degree from the University of Tampa and earned her Early Childhood certification from Nova University. She taught mentally and physically handicapped children and adults for four and a half years. Mrs. Holt helped to develop the three year-old program here at St. Lawrence. She taught three year-olds for two years. She then moved on to Kindergarten and where she has been teaching for seventeen years. Mrs. Holt has been married for 35 years, and has 2 daughters, a teacher and a nurse.

Mrs. Rosemary Horvat

Mrs. Rosemary Horvat graduated from Queens University in Charlotte (North Carolina) with a B.S. Degree in Biology. After a fifteen year career in forensic science, Mrs. Horvat began teaching at St. Lawrence in 2003. She completed her certification courses at the University of South Florida and is certified to teach General Science Grades 5 – 9. Mrs. Horvat, her husband Richard, and sons Andrew and Nathan are members of St. Lawrence Parish. Lucky the Dog and Cinnamon the Cat are also part of the family!

Mrs. Kelly Kearney is married to Tim and has three children: Steven, Christopher, and Katie. She was born in Tampa but grew up in Plant City and still resides there. She has worked in our diocese as a Youth Minister, Campus Minister, and/or Religion teacher for 23 years. Mrs. Kearney has a Bachelors Degree in Religious Studies from Saint Leo University and a Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies from the Center for Ministry Development.

Mrs. Nancy Maurer

Mrs. Nancy Maurer was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She graduated with an Associate degree from the University of Puerto Rico in 1983 and moved to Tallahassee that same year to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Florida State University. Mrs. Maurer graduated in 1987, married in 1988, and moved to Maryland where she worked for the Census Bureau in Washington D.C. as a Computer Programmer. In late 1989, Nancy and her husband, Ed, moved to the Tampa area and became parishioners of St. Lawrence. Nancy continued to work as a Computer Programmer for several years until her son, Ben, was born. She stayed home to raise Ben and her second child, Rosa, for the next eight years. Mrs. Maurer went back into the workforce at St. Lawrence in 2004, as a teacher’s aide in Early Childhood. Still moved by her strong childhood dream of becoming an artist, Mrs. Maurer enrolled at the University of South Florida where she studied visual arts, earning a second Bachelor’s degree (Art Studio, 2009). Since 2008, she has volunteered on Sunday mornings (with her family) to run the Parish’s Religious Articles Shoppe located in Higgins Hall. She loves spending time with her family, pizza night, sewing, and is currently studying how to integrate classical drawing and painting techniques into contemporary religious pictures.

Mr. Kevin McChesney

Coach Kevin McChesney graduated from the University of Tampa. There he earned a degree in Exercise Science and Education. He has been a certified teacher in the Diocese of St. Petersburg for seven years now. In his coaching career he has won two soccer league championships and one boy’s volleyball season. Outside of teaching, Coach McChesney enjoys spending time with family and friends and being on his boat fishing.

Mr. Richard McRobert

|
Mr. McRobert was born near Buffalo, New York, and grew up in the village of Hamburg, which claims to have invented the “hamburger sandwich”. Mr. Mac attended public school and the Presbyterian Church, where he became an active member of Boy Scout Troop 102 and later, the Deputation Team, which gave him his first teaching experience. Rev. Lee MacCallum organized this team of high school students to be trained as reading tutors, and then travel to a rural community in Maine to work with elementary-age kids. He also enjoyed four years playing JV and Varsity Soccer. He majored in English and Rhetoric at the State University of New York at Albany, graduated with his BA, and headed to Long Island, where he met his future wife at the Levittown teacher’s strike. Searching for affordable housing, they migrated south to St. Petersburg, where they both found employment in education. While Mrs. Mac has toiled in the Pinellas public schools for 24 years, he served as Admiral Farragut Academy’s English Dept. head and Buccaneer yearbook advisor. During those years, their two sons were born three years apart, and are now living, ironically, in New York. They also adopted an SPCA dog, King, who seems oblivious to his age. In 1999, Mr. Mac applied for an opening as a Middle School Language Arts instructor at St. Lawrence Catholic, and was happy to be hired by Mrs. Hansma, despite the Howard Frankland Bridge. He has served as Forensics team coach, and is proud to continue “paying forward” the love and appreciation of great literature that his teachers instilled in him.

Mrs. Laurie Meriwether-Collins

Mrs. Laurie Meriwether-Collins is a New England native. She attended elementary, middle and high schools in Fairfield, Connecticut. Mrs. M-Collins is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. She worked for a small boutique in Connecticut as a fashion buyer prior to moving to Tampa, Florida. Her career in computer technology began while working for a small local company. The company computer broke, and she pulled it apart and fixed it! Mrs. M-Collins is currently certified as a Microsoft Office Specialists in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. She and her husband Cavan have been members of St. Lawrence Parish for the past 24 years. Mrs. M-Collins became affiliated with St. Lawrence Catholic School when her two daughters were of school age. Both daughters attended STL from pre-school through 8th grade. Mrs. M-Collins has been teaching at St. Lawrence for the past 9 years. She is currently the moderator of our Morning Show, School Newspaper, Student Council and Yearbook.

Mrs. Liz Mondor

Mrs. Liz Mondor is a Tampa native and a proud product of Catholic schools. She received her BA from Mercer University and a Masters in Reading Education from Nova Southeastern University. She is currently pursuing a second Master’s from the University of Dayton. Mrs. Mondor is involved in the Student Council and heads up the JV and Varsity Pep Squad here at St. Lawrence. She and her husband, Richard, are the proud parents of 3 boys who keep them very busy running from sport to sport, including football, basketball, and lacrosse. She began teaching at St. Lawrence in 2005 as a first grade teacher and now has joined the Middle School team as a Language Arts teacher and also is the Reading teacher for the primary grades.

Mrs. Angela Nardelli

Mrs. Angela Nardelli has been teaching at St. Lawrence since 2008. Prior to joining the St. Lawrence faculty, she taught Early Childhood at Trinity School for Children in Tampa. Mrs. Nardelli is a Tampa native and an alumnus of Tampa Catholic and the University of South Florida. Upon graduating with her B.A. in Sociology, Mrs. Nardelli worked in franchising and insurance for twelve years. She began volunteering at her daughter’s school and decided to further her education and change to a career in teaching. Mrs. Nardelli holds her Professional Certificates in Elementary and Early Childhood education. She has two wonderful daughters, Giana and Giselle, who attend St. Lawrence.

Mrs. Bernadette Natt

Mrs. Bernadette Natt joined the St. Lawrence faculty as the music teacher for Early Childhood – Sixth grade in January of 2009. She graduated from South Dakota State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. Mrs. Natt has had experience in teaching band, choir, and general music for 8 years now. She has taught Early Childhood 3 year olds all the way up through twelfth grade. Besides teaching, Mrs. Natt also plays the piano, French horn, and trumpet.

Mr. James North, Jr.

Mr. Jim North is a Tampa native, and was educated in parochial school at the “original” St. Patrick’s school in South Tampa. He then attended Jesuit High School. When he graduated, he continued his Jesuit education at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Al., where he received a BS in Political Science/History. After returning to Tampa, Mr. North found a love for teaching and coaching. He has also received his Master’s in International Studies at U.S.F. After years of helping children with learning disabilities at both the Middle and High school levels, he has seen much success with students of all levels and abilities. He has excitedly joined the staff at St. Lawrence, teaching Middle School Social Studies for the next chapter in his educational career.

Mrs. Terri Orr was born and raised in South Florida. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Journalism and Communication at the University of Florida. She worked for twelve years as a Pharmaceutical Representative before moving from Miami to Tampa in 2004. She has been a Teacher’s Assistant at St. Lawrence since 2006. Mrs. Orr and her husband, Chip, have two children who attend St. Lawrence.

Mrs. Ann Pavlakis

Mrs. Ann Pavlakis is originally from Simsbury, Connecticut. While she attended school she was always inspired by her Art teachers and knew one day she would be an Art teacher. Mrs. Pavlakis graduated from Lynchburg College in Virginia and has a B.A in Fine Arts and Graphic Design. While attending college Mrs. Pavlakis was asked by the Art Department to be a Teachers Assistant to the teachers and art students. She was always willing to help other students and learn from her professors. Mrs. Pavlakis has been a member of St. Lawrence Church since 1997 and her 3 boys have been attending school here at St. Lawrence since 1999. Mrs. Pavlakis was always involved at St. Lawrence with the children and the Parent’s Club co-chairing class projects and helping in the classrooms. Mrs. Pavlakis was also a teacher’s assistant in first grade with Mrs. Mondor. The following year she became the Art Teacher.

Mrs. Barbara Portales was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She relocated to Tampa, FL in 1981 to attend classes and work at the University of South Florida. Barbara has 17 years of Catholic School Fundraising experience. She is married to Roberto Portales, a St. Lawrence Alumni. They have two sons and one daughter who also attended STL. Barbara hopes to enhance and promote the future growth and development of the parish and school as well as support the St. Lawrence Alumni Association.

Mrs. Carol Puleo-Haskins

Mrs. Carol Puleo-Haskins graduated from University of Florida with a bachelors of Science in Physical Education. She is certified in Physical Education and Middle School Science. Coach Haskins has been teaching and coaching at SLS for over 15 yrs. She is the head coach for Girls Varsity Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Softball. During her time as Coach her teams have won Volleyball championships in 2004 and 2006, Basketball championships in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2010. They have also won Softball championships in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Coach Haskins finished her Masters in Physical Education from USF in 2010. She is a proud graduate of St. Lawrence, and both of her children, Marianna, age 20, and Andrew, age 16, also attended St. Lawrence.

Mrs. Suzanne Roberts

Mrs. Suzanne Roberts is a Tampa native. She attended OLPH and St. Lawrence for elementary and middle school, and she attended Tampa Catholic High School. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in education. Mrs. Roberts taught for 16 years with Hillsborough County Public Schools. This is her fourth year at St. Lawrence. She is married and has three children who currently attend St. Lawrence.

Mrs. Ana Robins

Mrs. Ana Garcia Robins was born in Montevideo, Uruguay but lived in the New York/New Jersey area since the age of two. She speaks fluent Spanish and also a tiny bit of French and Portuguese. Mrs. Robins always wanted to be a teacher, but graduated with a BBA in International Management from Pace University, and later earned an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix. After working for a dozen years at IBM and MetLife, Mrs. Robins was moved by divine intervention to finally pursue a career in teaching. In September 2000, she became a middle school Spanish teacher. She has also taught preschool and bilingual kindergarten. In 2007, Mrs. Robins and her family moved from New Jersey to Land O’ Lakes, Florida. She was a substitute teacher in Hillsborough and Pasco counties while taking ESOL education courses at USF. In November 2009, Mrs. Robins was blessed with the opportunity to teach 2nd grade at St. Lawrence. She lives with her husband Kevin, her son Daniel, a yellow Lab named Max and two cats, Spencer and Honey.

Mrs. Lilianne Rodriguez

Mrs. LiliAnne Rodriguez was born and raised in Tampa and is a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Parish. She attended O.L.P.H. and graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names. Mrs. Rodriguez earned degrees in Marketing and Management from the University of South Florida. She enjoyed a career as a Commercial Property Manager with a local Real Estate developer for twelve years before joining St. Lawrence in 1996. Mrs. Rodriguez and her husband have one son in college and a dog named Allie. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and watching her favorite team, the Rays.

Mrs. Maria Roman is a native New Yorker who moved to Tampa 5 years ago. She has been in involved in Religious Education for over 25 years. Mrs. Roman received her undergraduate degree in Religious Studies and Masters in School Administration. She has been married to Michael for 30 years, has one daughter who is married and is blessed with one grandson, William, who is 2 years old. She believes the key to happiness is love of God!

Ms. Connie Sartori

Ms. Connie Sartori joined the St. Lawrence family in 2009. She is very impressed by the commitment to highest student achievement and the powerful spirituality that exists at our school. Ms. Sartori is a thirty-five year veteran teacher from the Pinellas County school system where she taught middle school Language Arts at Seminole Middle. She had the privilege of being recognized as one of the “top ten” teachers in the county. She has also had the opportunity to work with several writing cadres in curriculum development. Ms. Sartori is certified in language arts and gifted education. She has also done review work for several textbook companies and tutored high school students in FCAT skill preparation. Ms. Sartori lives in Palm Harbor with her elderly mother who is recovering from a hip fracture. She feels so blessed to have the opportunity to work in this faith-filled Catholic community.

Mrs. Loree Semler

Mrs. Loree Semler has been a teacher at St. Lawrence since 2000. Prior to her tenure at St Lawrence she was employed with the School District of Hillsborough County as an Elementary School Teacher and as a Grant Writing Specialist where she was a member of the writing team responsible for securing the $15 million Magnet Grant for Hillsborough County awarded in 1995. Mrs. Semler is a SCATT trained Clinical Teacher, and as such has supervised level 3 interns from the University of South Florida and has been a Peer Teacher for 12 beginning teachers in the Florida Beginning Teacher Program. She won a Rotary Award for Economic Education in 1991. She is a presenter at Early Childhood Conferences around the state and was awarded 2005 – Who’s Who Among American Teachers. She is a member of Pan American University Women and the National Association of Catholic Teachers.

Mrs. Rose Smoot is a St. Petersburg native, attending St. Paul’s & St. Jude’s Catholic School for elementary and middle school. She graduated from St. Petersburg Catholic and is proud to be a Baron alumni (sorry Tampa Catholic alums!). Mrs. Smoot has been a Resource teacher and/or administrator in the Diocese of St. Petersburg for 17 years. She is happily married to Jim and has 4 children. Her family also includes 2 dogs, a chocolate labrador named (aptly) Brownie, and a border collie/lab mix named Luna. In any spare time she has, she loves to read and play Spider Solitaire.

Mrs. Stella Williams

Mrs. Stella Williams was born and raised in Tampa. She attended Christ the King Catholic School and graduated from Plant High. Mrs. Williams received a BA in Education from the University of South Florida. Her first teaching position was at Sacred Heart Academy where she taught for seven years. She later joined the faculty at St. Lawrence to advance her career in Elementary Education. Mrs. Williams has been happily teaching at St. Lawrence for the past 29 years. Mrs. Williams has worked on many Committees and Self Studies throughout her tenure. She is the Test Coordinator, and has been nominated by former students for Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Mrs. Stella Williams was married 29 wonderful years to her husband, Barry, until he lost his battle with cancer. She loves spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Williams enjoys shopping, listening to music, reading, watching football, and is an avid Bucs Fan!

Ms. Pat Zavoina

|
Ms. Pat Zavoina received her BA from Florida Southern College and her MS from Florida State University. Although her students swear she was at Bunker Hill and personally knew George Washington, she has only been teaching for thirty years at the high school and middle school levels. Her greatest joy is her daughter Meghan, attending her second year at Levin College of Law at the University of Florida.
