St. Lawrence Catholic Church and School, located in Tampa, Florida, in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, is actively seeking a school principal for the 2026-2027 school year. As a parish school, St. Lawrence Catholic School community is dedicated to the creation of a Christ-centered environment in the Roman Catholic tradition, that allows students to learn to serve God and others, to develop their unique talents and skills, to strive for academic excellence, and to become life-long learners. This elementary and middle school serves 520 students in grades EC3 – 8 and has been serving the local community since 1961.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an unwavering commitment to providing a Catholic education of the highest quality, ensuring that St. Lawrence students are on the path to a faith-filled and virtuous life, further education, and career readiness.
The successful candidate must have a clear vision of and dedication to the values and philosophy of Catholic education. As a parochial school, they must be willing to work in a shared vision with the pastor of St. Lawrence. Candidates must understand and possess strong business/financial management skills, curricular insights, leadership ability for faculty, staff, students, and school families, maintain a working relationship with the Diocese of St. Petersburg’s Office of Catholic Schools and Centers, and communication skills to ensure the long-term thriving of the school.
The successful candidate will be a spiritually motivated, practicing Roman Catholic with a deep understanding of traditional Catholic education and anthropology. They should possess a strong command of elementary and middle school fundamentals, excellent interpersonal skills, and a future-oriented academic vision backed by proven leadership.
The Candidate must:
- Be a practicing Catholic;
- Have a minimum of seven years of experience teaching and five years of experience leading in a Catholic school setting
- Be able to meet the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida Department of Education, and Florida Catholic Conference requirements for principals;
- Candidates with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration are preferred.
- Possess (or be eligible to receive) a State of Florida principal certificate, including required graduate coursework in educational leadership;
- Must pass Level II Fingerprinting and complete Safe Environment Training
